The XMQ-001 Fastidious is a nano-bot that fits into the palm of your hand. Independently developed by Tadei Technologies. Pending government funding.

The nano-bot is a short range-medium precision strike drone. Utilizing 360* optical sensor systems such as infrared, but most importantly. It has optical capabilities. Just like a phone app, it has facial recognition capabilities, better than what we have today. It can optically recognize its surroundings to navigate. They cooperate easily with short range transmissions between each other. Most importantly, they don't need a human to command them. They just need a target and it's location. They can identify entrances such as doors and windows with their optical systems. They're also quiet at longer distances, extremely maneuverable and make erratic motions able to compensate with the wind extremely quickly as long as it isn't too strong. It adapts to changes for stability, able to be chucked as hard as you can (not at the ground) and it will be able to stabilize itself. Able to get back to stability, almost in any state it finds itself in (physical orientation). The erratic movement capability allows it to discourage sniper fire (not automatic fire however). Its size also makes it difficult to shoot down.

The best part, it carries three grams of shaped explosive. It finds its target, goes for the head, smashes against the head at full speed and detonates. The explosive reduces the mess produced as it does not penetrate all the way through the head. The explosion is only enough to puncture the skull, and destroy the contents. Instantly killing the target.
