TH-2 Easy Flyer

Control:
-VTOL: Main Rotor Throttle (50 percent for regular flight)
-Throttle: Collective

Now for School Time. So you want to be a pilot? You might as well learn some basic terms and concepts, and talk the talk, before you take the oh so painful walk. That's right, this was a clever ploy to make you learn something.

Some Terms: For the Fixed-Wing Minded

-Collective: Refers to the "Collective" lift created by the sum of the blades. Lift is adjusted by changing the angle of attack for the spinning blades. It's usually a lever located next to the pilot. Precision is key and it takes practice.

-Cyclic: Fixed wing aircraft use a "Stick" to adjust the pitch and roll, and while it's basically the same thing, Helicopters need to be different and call it a "Cyclic". There is a lot of stuff a helicopter does when a pilot moves a cyclic, like overcoming the difference in lift created by a proceeding and retreating blades, gyroscopic precession, ect. For the sake of keeping it simple, it controls your pitch and roll.

-Anti-Torque Pedals: It's no surprise the without a tail rotor helicopters will spin out of control. A Helicopter is fighting the torque of the rotor system, and it does this with a tail rotor. Helicopters can use this to help yaw the aircraft. While not simulated in game, the pedals on the floor that would control a tail rudder on a fixed wing, are called "Anti-Torque Pedals", and do the same thing, by changing the speed of the tail rotor. Helicopters like the CH-47, KA-52, amongst others are exceptions, but on a traditional helicopter this is usually the case.

Basic Concepts

-Throttle Control:
Helicopters use two forms of throttle control, a Governor, and Correlator. While some helicopters still allow you to manually adjust throttle in flight, this helicopter trainer imitates the two methods above. Set the throttle to 50 to 100 percent and work the Collective. The only time you should be adjusting the throttle is before and post flight. Multi-engine aircraft can have OEI (One Engine Inoperable) conditions where you need to perform emergency engine procedures, but this is a $10 mobile game, not DCS.

-Basic Skills:
What makes a helicopter, and any VTOL is it's ability to hover and land in small places. This aircraft is good for practicing hovers and landings. Most of my builds use a digital VSI (Vertical Speed Indicator). While this aircraft doesn't have an digital on like my other builds, it uses an analog dial on in the top left portion of the instrument cluster and tells you how fast you are ascending and descending. Rolls and overcoming torque created from increasing and decreasing the collective is done through small and precise movements. Much like a real helicopter, this aircraft is no different, so aggressive movement of the collective and cyclic can result in a crash. There's a lot more to flying a VTOLs and Helicopters, but the basics don't change.

Now with the 101 crash course out of the way. Time for some practice.

Note:
When I'm not working on space craft, I'm making really simple quick builds and testing out new styles. I wanted to make a really easy to fly helicopter. Unlike the SKIP series, the TH-2 is very forgiving, and perfect for anyone trying to practice with helicopters and VTOLs. No crazy start up buttons, just push up on the VTOL and Throttle and go.

As usual, I'm sending this thing over to my phone for on the go use, and I figured the rest of the community can mess around with this thing too. Feel free to fly it, or make it into something of your own. I have much larger builds in the works, but after a month of being in the harsh outdoors, this is a nice practice build to get me back into things, and try out some new canopy ideas.

    @WinsWings Thanks, they're tough to fly. I honestly love the challenge which is why most of my stuff is VTOL in some form. Hopefully, this thing is a nice introduction, and a really simple helicopter people can take apart and learn from.
