DeviantArt post (may contain minor structural differences)

The "Hedgehog" is a light, one-seater buggy chassis. It is fully electric and all moving parts are contained within large protective cylinders. Introduced in the mid-21st Century, it includes elements of early space vehicles, yet based on the tried-and-tested structural technologies introduced up to over 50 years earlier.

It is usually sold as a compact package of metal rods and structures. A few parts are shipped separately. The vehicle is typically assembled by the user but free assembly services are available at selected locations.

Customization options like light bars, frame extensions, and body panels are available.

The interior setup is typical of offroad buggies. Different parts are used for a space variant, like full liquid coolant systems and an oxygen tank.

Top Speed: 75 mph (prod. variant limiter)
Drivetrain: 4WD
Engine: 2x Electric Motor

LEGAL ISSUES

It is important to note that the Hedgehog vehicle cannot be legally driven in built-up areas, except on selected trails and most specialised facilities like racetracks. This is due to it having minimal occupant protection systems.

RACING

Modified Racing variants of the Hedgehog chassis were used in some competitions, mainly in Electric vehicle classes.

SALES

Low price and the ability to build the vehicle yourself attributed to some popularity within the car community.

Early colonization preference meant that buggy chassis would not be introduced to space civilization at the time. They were only introduced in the 22nd Century as larger, safer and more versatile trucks were preferred earlier.
