The ASF-114 is a light variable geometry aircraft, part of the Star-Spirit series and utilising spacecraft technology of the Colonisation Period. In fact, the powerplant is a predecessor to some used in spacefighters.

H-Mode

The ASF-114 has a standard fuselage design for a fighter aircraft. Like most fighters of the time, it is smaller than fifth-generation fighters. The fuselage has a compact single-seater cockpit and a single exhaust outlet for the engine. An airbrake panel covers the top of this outlet, and rotates out 60 degrees when activated.

The primary wings can rotate 50 degrees from the standard position to forming three main flight modes:
- Standard (N) Mode - the wings are outstretched, giving the unit the highest low-speed stability. This is also the flight mode used during takeoff and landing.
- Agile (X) Mode - the wings rotate forwards, giving the unit the highest turn rate and is stable during full throttle. This flight mode is commonly used for storage as well, due to the reduced wingspan.
- Hypercruise (H) Mode - the wings rotate backwards, giving the unit stability when the engine overdrive is used.

The unit lands with low upward pitch as the tail extends long behind the rear landing gear and could be struck on the runway.

USES AND ARMAMENT

The ASF-114 is used mainly as a fighter aircraft, but works as a ground attack aircraft as well.

The pictured armament is for a fighter role. Four missiles and two light missile pods are equipped in the configuration.

It should be noted that even though the engine can operate in space, the ASF-114 cannot manouver in a vacuum.

PRODUCTION

The ASF-114 entered production in the mid-21st Century. It continued to be produced for about 30 years under a combined pre-built and built-to-order scheme, after which complete airframes were no longer produced. About 1,000 units were produced in this time. Parts remain available for purchase.

ASF-114 units can only be purchased by militaries.
