For Jec7
The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engined Second World War heavy bomber designed and built by Avro for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The "Lanc", as it was affectionately known, became one of the more famous and most successful of the Second World War night bombers, delivering 608,612 long tons of bombs in 156,000 sorties.
A long, unobstructed bomb bay meant that the Lancaster could take the largest bombs used by the RAF, including the 4,000 lb, 8,000 lb, and 12,000 lb blockbusters, loads often supplemented with smaller bombs or incendiaries. Although the Lancaster was primarily a night bomber, it excelled in many other roles, including daylight precision bombing: in the latter role some Lancasters were adapted to carry the 12,000 lb Tallboy and, ultimately, the 22,000 lb Grand Slam earthquake bombs.
The Avro Lancaster was initially equipped with four hydraulically operated turrets mounted in the nose, tail, mid-upper and underside. The underside turret proved to be deadweight and too slow to track targets, and was scraped in later Lancaster variations. The original tail turret was equipped with four Browning .303 Mark II machine guns and all other turrets with two such machine guns.
This one is for you Jec7!!
This is my second WWII heavy bomber I have and my favorite of the two. I put more detail (turrets, paint, wings) into this plane than any other I have built. As such, it must be flown using the LOWEST SETTINGS on mobile devices (it was built on an ipad and works perfectly at the lowest settings; I am not sure about phones though).
This beauty is loaded with 7 bouncing bombs (detachers 2 and 3). She flies level until about 4500 ft ASL at which it becomes slightly nose tippy. As always, detacher 1 jettisons landing gear if you want to.
Can you locate the enemy aircraft carrier and score 7 direct hits?
Enjoy, and keep on the look out for more to come!
