This was an attempt to not only break the airspeed record but also impress the Luftwaffe to switch from their BF-109's to the Heinkel-100, the main advantage of the He-100 is it's speed, though in order to maintain this speed it required a powerful cooling system and that became a huge weakspot which would've made it a poor fighter in the way of durablilty, the various He-100s created were kept for propoganda purposes
