About this ship :

KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai (332) or PKR-2 Ship ( Missile Guard Destroyer 10514 ) is the second Martadinata class frigate jointly constructed by PT PAL and the Dutch Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) as an order for the Ministry of Defence . The first ship is KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata (331) . The Indonesian Navy plans to continue to increase orders for this PKR Sigma type in stages, to replace the Van Speijk warship which will be retired in stages.

This ship will bring new technology to the Indonesian Navy, in the form of a Vertical launching system (VLS) weapon system. In Indo Defense 2016, MBDA is closing in on a deal to supply the VL Mica missile defense system for the Indonesian Navy's SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) two frigate program. VL Mica uses air-to-air missiles with active radar or imaging infrared seekers, which provides 360-degree capability to engage multiple targets simultaneously for a maximum protection range of 20 km.
