Major Industries GQ-284 Open-Rotor Turbojet
6,450 Flewey
4.0 years ago
Major Industries’ open-rotor turbojet. Give credit when using. (I believe this is the first open-rotor turbojet on SP. Correct me if I’m wrong.)
Concerning the confusion between Prop-fans and Open-Rotor Turbojets:
Yes, these are two different things. Prop-fans are like turboprops, but they are much more powerful, and are positioned at the front of the engine, whereas open-rotor turbojets are simple turbojets with extended rotors to increase fuel efficiency.

@KnightOfRen You may now brag about Major Industries making one of the first open-rotor turbojets on SimplePlanes.
@Astro12 Lol.
@MajorSix
wow . So old...
@Astro12 Look what I found: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/1VTdBh/DC-9-PropFan
@LieutenantSOT No problem. Thanks man.
@MajorSix Sorry, had to go to bed. Thanks for the partnership! I was going to use contra-rotating props and jet engines on my Blitzableiter, but the idea of a turboprop-jet engine mix sounds awesome (Open-Rotor Turbojet). So I'm going to make a new version of my Blitzableiter with this. So thank you. And I will tag you
@MajorSix no problem
@airlinerbuilder Thanks man.
@MajorSix sure
@airlinerbuilder Also if it's not too much trouble, could you tag me on your build. I'd like to see how you use this.
@airlinerbuilder Thanks mate.
@MajorSix of course
@airlinerbuilder No problem. Just remember to give credit.
@MajorSix ok thanks
@airlinerbuilder Correct name is open-rotor turbojet, but sure.
cool engine, can i use it for a future propfan airliner?
Well, this was a nice note to end on...
@LieutenantSOT No problem, mate.
@MajorSix okay, cool! Thx
@LieutenantSOT Also, consider yourself a friend of Major Industries. We'd be happy to provide any engine of our to you.
@LieutenantSOT Of course. Just give credit if you use the actual thing.
Holy. Crap. 12. Upvotes.
@MajorSix before I saw this I didn’t even know this fancy name. Most of us call this a Propfan engine.
