General Dynamics F-16C Block 52 Viper
For SimplePlanes

Country of Origin: United States
Role: Multirole Fighter, Air Superiority Fighter
Crew: 1
Livery: Special USAF 35th Fighter Wing (Red/Yellow Band)

The F-16C Block 52 Fighting Falcon, more commonly referred to as “Viper” (a moniker that has practically replaced the original name), was originally envisioned as a lightweight air-to-air fighter. However it evolved into a multirole throughout its service, a change made possible by the overdesigned airframe, which had double the structural lifespan requested. The F-16 was the first aircraft designed to be intentionally aerodynamically unstable, using a fly-by-wire system to maintain controlled flight. In addition to a high thrust-to-weight ratio, this allows the F-16 to be extremely nimble compared to its contemporaries. The Block 52 C-model incorporates an improved engine, avionics, and weapons compatibility.

The F-16 is the most widely used fixed-wing aircraft in military service, being operated by the United States, Israel, Pakistan, Turkey, Denmark, and Venezuela, among many other countries. It is also the aircraft used by the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron, “Thunderbirds,” who operate the F-16C and two-seat F-16D. Additionally, there have been several upgrade programs for F-16’s. Author’s Notes
- Fuel and gun ammo is unlimited.
- On takeoff, I recommend 60% trim with auto flaps enabled. Get to around 300 km/h and give slight taps for the pitch to avoid tail striking. (For keyboard users)
- On landing, use the trim to achieve your glide slope and adjust using pitch. (For keyboard users)
- To get the most out of the turn rate, slow down if above 900 km/h.

New Weapons
- GBU-12 Paveway II: Laser-guided precision bomb.
- AN/ALQ-184(Short): Short version of AN/ALQ-184 ECM pod. (Cosmetic)
- AN/ASQ-213 HTS: Harm targeting system pod. (Cosmetic)

Weapons Changelog
- AGM-88 HARM: maxRange increased from 15 km to 20 km. lockTime reduced from 2 sec. to 1 sec.
- AIM-120C AMRAAM: maxRange increased from 19 km to 20 km. Horizontally mounted AMRAAM’s no longer have 0.5 sec ignitionDelay.
- AGM-65D Maverick: New model.
- AN/AAQ-28(V) LITENING: New model.

    Could you somehow reduce the roll rate, it is really unstable and sensitive and it keeps rolling for a few seconds before stopping.

    @Blueshift This on purpose. That oscillation is a result of the high AoA. Lowering rotator speed helps, but reduces responsiveness and instantaneous nose authority. For small adjustments, use trim or feather your pitch if using keyboard.

    center of gravity shifted forward using dedicated tank object. - hull tank deleted.... result CoL. closer to CoM. - nevertheless the whole plane is not balanced... too bad.

    the Elevator is very unstable, the plane oscillates up and down. - reduction of hinge speed and from 30 degrees to 20 degrees deflection improves the flight behavior significantly.

    @UmbrellaCorporation I may or may not have an answer

    @ReinMcDeer could use the basic blocks and form a long line of them and suspend the weapons off of pylons. Plus maybe use test to add the names of each respective weapon

    @NewWorldAerospace @Ocean70 I actually want to remake my Su-27. Technically my latest Flanker is outdated.
    Also, on the CFT's maybe.

    @Freerider2142 Yeah, I always have trouble with that.
    You want enough steering angle for tight turning when parking but it makes you Tokyo drift when taxiing. :v
    The landing just comes with practice, but it is really hard especially with keyobard

    @ReinMcDeer Thank you, very cool!
    Great plane, flies great, pretty nimble.
    Very hard to land and taxi...
    but that's not necessarily a bad thing ;)

    @CPTWilson I've thought about that since I (sort of) try to balance them against each other. Just wondering how I'd go about it.

    oh
    I guess I didn't pay attention enough
    When I looked at the blk 30/32 again I see something like: "From now on, F-16s with block ending 0 will be outfitted with GE engines and block ending 2 will be outfitted with Pratt & Whitney engines"
    As for why they decided to put the GE engines, probably because it's more efficient despite the lower thrust

    @ZeroWithSlashedO Oh
    As far as I know, the C/D indicates 1/2 seater. The Block 52 is an engine upgrade from the Block 50 according to F-16.net and Wikipedia. It's kind of hard to find specific info regarding the differences between the Block 50 and 52 since they're lumped together, but F-16.net shows a picture of a Greek single-seat Block 52+ and Wikipedia states C/D designates the 1/2 seat here. My blueprint also shows a single-seat Block 52 and shows the larger nozzle of the F100-PW-229 compared to the F100-GE-229.
    I'm also not sure why they would limit the more powerful F100-PW-229 to the 2 seaters only. :/

    @ReinMcDeer
    Blk 52s are 2 seaters
    Blk 50s are single seaters
    if the Block number ends with 2 it's a two seater, and 2 seaters use a different engine (which is the F100-PW-129)
    if the Block number ends with 0 it's a single seat with the F110-GE-129 engines (for C models, for A models it's the same as the B/D models)
