FGR - 38N Ursula
DwiAngkasaAeronautics present:
FGR – 38N Ursula
this is gif so...wait to watch ok?
weeeee
Background
Close air support is important on-ground operation. It acts as a power multiplier. After much time we build air superiority fighters, bombers, multi-role, we decided to make dedicated Close Air Support (CAS) aircraft. And by doing so, we also join the CAS competition that has the same requirement as our needs, which is:
- Either an airplane or helicopter.
- A minimum of two engines
- Subsonic.
- Plenty of air to ground munitions.
- Plenty of countermeasures
- At least some capacity to fight enemy aircraft (Examples: AIM’s or turrets).
- A fuselage designed to withstand hits from small arms fire.
- Capable to takeoff and land in rough terrain (optional in competition, but we take it as a must)
VTOL hype in the 50s-80s has birthed aircraft such as Harrier and yak-38. The capability to still getting to the air when the airfield gets destroyed gives a tactical advantage, especially in the height of the cold war back then. But, by the time this is written, the only VTOL jet fighter is only one: F-35B. VTOL trends seem to be dying, or is it?. Because of our demand to be capable to operate in rough terrain, we incorporated VTOL technology
Design and Description
FGR - 38N Ursula is a twin-engine, subsonic, VTOL-capable, ground-attack aircraft. Even though designated as naval aircraft, it is designed to be "Omni-terrain", meaning can be operated everywhere, from the small strip in forest, highway, small aircraft carrier, or even in the mountainous region. It utilizes the thrust vectoring nozzle to achieve VTOL capability with engine arrangement like this diagram
The use of two engines and composite material; enables higher payload and bigger wings in a high subsonic speed regime (M 0.92). Also, to combat hot gas ingestion that lowers jet engine performance, we utilize a cover mechanism that shuts the inlet and opens the air channel above LERX. It will automatically open when VTOL mode and under 30 meters from surfaces. We also refine the VTOL system so the aircraft behaves smoothly and is easier to control in VTOL mode. It has a folding wing for carrier or mountain bunker storage.
Role
- Close Air Support
- Light bomber
- Reconnaissance
Armament:
- 2 x Clover 1000lb High Drag Bomb
- 2 x Whitefang MK VI AGM
- 2 x Paveway II Guided Bomb
- 2 x Sidewinder MK III AAM
- 2 x 30mm Burst mode Autocannon
Features:
- Nozzle Control
For yaw stability
- Anti Brick Drop System
Slow the descend even when throttle cut off. Ease the vertical landing
- Automatic Engine Cover
In real life, hot gas ingestion reduces the engine performance. So we close the main inlet completely and channel it from the top. It automatically activates when VTOL mode and 30 meters from the ground
Control:
- Acitvate2: Drop tank
- Acitvate3: Toggle airbrake
- Acitvate4: Jettison Ground Ordinance
- Deacitvate8: Fold wing
- Trim: Trim
- VTOL Up: Toggle VTOL vectoring nozzle
- VTOL Down: Flaps
Vertical takeoff instruction:
- VTOL slider up then Throttle 100%
- After at height (>30m ideal), either gradually or immediately pull the VTOL slider to the middle.
- Adjust pitch
Vertical landing instruction:
- VTOL slider up and slow down the aircraft (the fastest way is to pitch up, make the aircraft as an air brake)
- Throttle 30-40% for hover
- Throttle 20-30% to descent slowly (or just kill the throttle, it will land itself but won't be smooth)
Short takeoff instruction:
- VTOL slider halfway up then Throttle 100%
- After airborne at more than 200kmh (120 mph / 107 kn), pull the VTOL slider to the middle.
- Adjust pitch
Weapon Briefing:
- Clover 1000lb High Drag Bomb
The nature of close air support operation for utilizing low-level bombing is dangerous considering the aircraft could catch on the bomb blast. By then, we install a retarder fin to induced drag when launched. Note: It will mess up the in-game targeting system. Compensate and don't use it for high altitude bombing. Dive-bombing may increase the accuracy
- Whitefang MK VI AGM
Upgrade variant of Whitefang MK V AGM. Lower part count and cleaner looks. Comparable to US AGM-65 Maverick or Russian Kh-29 Kedge
Specification
Operational range: 35 km
Max Speed: Mach 1.5
Max targeting angle: 50
Guidance: Electro-Optical - Infrared
Warhead: 250lb
- Paveway II
Guided bomb made by Beefy. Glide towards the target. One of the staples guided bombs for our craft
Specification
Operational range: 20 km
Max targeting angle: 90
Guidance: Laser
Other Weapon Load:
Dumb bombs(click me or click the image)
Note
- Feel free to take the weapon. Just credit the maker
- The VTOL - conventional transition may have a nose climb. Although not that violent, adjust using down the pitch for smoothness
- It may take time for VTOL to ascend
- The cannon is on 1-second burst mode. Hold press - release, and repeat.
Cruising Instruction:
* Throttle to 65-75%
* Adjust angle with trim
Useful for reducing fuel consumption
Certified to land in:
- USS Tiny
- Rooftop hangar in Wright Airport
- Destroyer Helipad
- Annapurna GIS Mod Level 1 (I only did level 1 cuz lazy lol. This landing was conducted before anti brick drop system was installed)
Used Creation Credits:
- Paveway-II Guided Bomb by Beefy
- Sidewinder missile by RamboJutter
- Bidirectional Delay Function FT by spefyjerbf
- Modified Altitude Hold FT by Biro
- Burst Cannon by DarDragon

Bonus
This is Ursula from The Little Mermaid. Somewhat I could see the body profile similarities between the two. Also, both are sea-themed

Author note
I enjoy building this. The last time I build VTOL craft is 2 years ago and didn't upload it. The clover bomb is inspired by Mk 82 Snake Eye. I redesigned it to be 3 fins, hence "clover" name.
I managed to make it 749, 2 less from disqualification lol. Overall, it's a good challenge.
The color scheme is inspired by ALRX WIP SU-34 from discord lol.
Building this while I have tense neck muscle is a bad idea lol

Cool, I like it because it has vtol, I have a different configuration, with new multiple roles: anti-submarine, anti-ship, anti-ground
@DwiAngkasaAeronautics I don't know why this is not working with pistons, its only working for small rotators.
@XpertTiger theres a rotator on the retarder fin. The rotator input is AG8&-AG8 (activated all time) and make it connected to the detacher. To know what I meant in this, try to dissect the bomb and see each connection using the ingame connection viewer
How did you make the drag bombs?
like when you shoot them they open their retarded fins automatically?
Could you update it with a cockpit?
@Azk1712 maksudnya kek pas lu diem ban nya kek muter sendiri, pasal diem pesawatnya terus suspensinya lembek bet, kek gw landing roda nya langsung meledak
Ban emang muter bang@Dxii
Bang ban blakang gw kok muter muter sendiri ya bang, btw gw main di mobile, kalo masalah desain nya sama senjatanya keren sih😎
Time t ok add a nuke to it
This flies so well and its really beautiful. Great job!
@Winterro, hmmm to me it doesn’t look like it’s only 749 parts lol.
Beautifully done
@FeatherWing yes i know that
@DwiAngkasaAeronautics
Well according to the MOD, FGR stands for Fighter, Ground attack Reconnaissance, so...
@FeatherWing i took "gr" inspiration from british harrier gr5/7/9. Gr is ground attack recon right? But in here i change it more to fighter ground role because its fictional
@DwiAngkasaAeronautics
I'm not complaining or anything, but you do know what FGR actually stands for, yes?
(Good plane either way)
Gorgeous plane!!! This deserves sooo many more Upvotes!!
Fantastic plane!
This is so amazing
@DwiAngkasaAeronautics that's what I call a stealth av-8 harrier
@DwiAngkasaAeronautics yes.
Hey @EternalDarkness, can you make this build to be a successor of this? It somehow doesn't register as a successor. Many Thanks
