Designed by the Soviets, the Samozaryadny Karabin sistemy Simonova or Self-loading Carbine of the Simonov System is a rifle developed during 1944. It was used by the Soviet military until the early 1950s in favor of the also famous AK-47. About 2.7 million were built by the Soviets and over 12 million were built by other countries such as China. It was designed by Sergei Simonov and is chambered in the 7.62x36 cartridge which is the same one that the AK utilizes. It is popular as a marksmanship and hunting rifle........

My father has an SKS. Family heirloom. Hasn't been shot on over 15-20 years lol. It's actually a Type 58 Chinese SKS.
I was at thee range today and some guy was using an SKS. The shells would fly about 10 feet up in the air would hit me when I was shooting.
