SpaceTech “Atomic” Ao Jun [War Robots]
Latest Version: v.1.1
Acknowledgments:
HUGE thanks to idonknow8b for helping me on this build. He made most of the Glider Drone’s model and the base for the Nucleons, all while providing me with so much inspiration and motivation. He's a great person, and I couldn't have made this without him. If you’re reading this idontknow8b, I just want to let you know how much I appreciate you!
Also, credit to ErickvCamilo21 and Lancelot1230 for parts of this build. Huge thanks to Mixx for helping me out on the walking animation.
Introduction:
The Ao Jun is a Tier 4 SpaceTech robot from War Robots. It was considered SpaceTech’s most notable innovation in robotic warfare for a long time. On the ground it is a formidable brawler. However, when its ability is activated, the robot becomes something completely different. Inspired by Chinese Dragons, the Ao Jun is equipped with a flight drive, stealth unit, and built-in flamethrower. These systems allow the robot to activate its ability, Dragon Breath. This specific unit is equipped with two Nucleon Energy Cannons and a PhaseShift module. It is further supported by a SpaceTech Glider Drone and Mantis Mothership.
In-Game Ao Jun Description: ”Massive and tough flying robot dragon with a stealth system. Like any true dragon, it prefers to burn its enemies with fire.”
In-Game Nucleon Description: ”Heavy energy machine gun with unlimited ammo. High accuracy makes it effective at medium range, but the gun overheats and becomes less accurate after long bursts.”
Features:
- First-of-its-kind (at least I’ve never seen it before) working third person UI with camera-operated head turning and weapon elevation. All abilities are operated through the buttons on the UI. If you’ve ever played War Robots before, you will be happy to find that the control scheme is very similar.
- Accurate, proportional, and stylized model with the “Atomic” paint job from War Robots. It is intended to match the Nucleon weapons.
- Dragon Breath ability, which allows the robot to fly and breathe fire. I’d love to add stealth, but currently there is no feasible way to implement this.
- Smooth, game-accurate, strafe-capable walking
- PhaseShift and Phasing Repair lighting effects
- “Orbital” repairing support
- Missile-blocking frontal Absorber Shield
- Full array of lighting effects
- Glider Drone that hovers (with a movement effect) beside the robot. Has multiple effects triggered by buttons on the UI. Will also shoot at whatever you shoot at.
Controls:
Walking: Throttle up to walk forward and use yaw to steer. Use both controls gently for the smoothest ride.
UI/Camera Operation: Go into the “War Robots UI” camera. Drag the screen horizontally to make the robot look around, and drag the screen vertically to elevate the weapons and look up/down. Press the FireGuns button to shoot.
*Note: Do not look all the way up or down using the camera. The system is meant to be robust, but it can break if you push it too far.
- Dragon Breath: Press the large button on the UI with the ^ arrow. Increase throttle to max in order to take off. Once you are at your preferred height, slide the VTOL slider all the way up to move forward. Use yaw to steer and look around as normal. To increase height, slide the VTOL slider back to the center. To decrease height, decrease throttle. To use the flamethrower, press FireGuns.
Landing Procedure: To land, slide the VTOL slider all the way down until forward motion is halted, then move the slider back to center. Decrease throttle until you begin to descend. Once you get close to the ground, increase throttle until you descend slow enough to not crash. Finally, press the Dragon Breath button again.
PhaseShift/Phasing Repair: Press the button on the screen with three oval lights to activate the effects. It has a 4 sec duration and a 35 sec cooldown.
*Note: To keep the cool-down ticking, you have to keep the button activated. Since it is a toggle you don’t have to hold it, but it has to be in the “on” position. I’ll likely fix this in a later version.
- Mantis Mothership Support: Press the button on the screen with three + signs and a \/ arrow. Then, press the FireGuns button to activate Orbital Repair. It has a 3 sec duration and 40 sec cooldown.
- Absorber Shield: Press the shield-shaped button and FireGuns to activate the Frontal Absorber Shield. It can block missiles and most part-projectiles. Look around to aim the shield. The absorber has a 2-3 sec duration and 10 sec cooldown.
Glider Drone: The glider drone automatically hovers beside the robot. To change the side of the robot it is on, slide Trim down. If you want to reduce lag, turning off the drone hovering may help. Activate AG7 to fix the drone in place.
*Note: Moving the drone to the other side stops the Absorber Shield from working properly. This feature should only be used when you are right beside an obstacle and don’t want to destroy the drone.
See you on the battlefield, commanders!

@JustWingIt thanks bro. Sorry... I forgot i spotlighted you already.
@Hazerz You did? Oh yeah, you did. Well, you're welcome for the points! You make some cool stuff!
I just realized... i spotlighted you already.
I am slowly surpassing you in points, and if i do surpass you, i am so gonna spotlight this
I said in the description how to fly forward. It was under the “Controls” header and “Dragon Breath” sub header. I’ll copy and paste it here for you:

@Xx24reminder
How to fly forward??
idontknow8b deserves the credit for the glider drone’s model. Also, thanks! @Dub
I like the glider drone
that custom UI is just beautiful
Thanks! I spent A LOT of late nights on this thing. @NatsukiHoshino
So good!
Ay another war robots aircraft
this is an amazing remodel
we got same point lol
Yeah, the built-in flamethrower is kinda buggy sometimes against faster robots or when you are moving in a certain direction. Since I play the Ao Jun so much, I have learned to mitigate the bug’s effects. Hope they fix it soon though. @idontknow8b
@JustWingIt ok so i am using the ao jun with flamethrowers and it will SHRED tanky guys, but not with fast bots.
@JustWingIt not even lying i accedentaly bought the Ao Jun XD
