"A single frigate is just a speed bump, but ten of them now you got a problem."
Overview
The ANS Ariene is the lead ship of her class, she is built for anti submarine warfare in pack of other ASW vessel. She is equipped with advance sonar and sub hunting weaponry. Her primary selling point is her ease of manufacture, ship of her class are able to be produced in large quantity and at a fast pace. Her class is an important aspect of any anti submarine effort and is always present in any major surface fleet.
Features
Auto targeting turret and CIWS
Controllable torpedo launcher
Towed array sonar
Controllable grenade launcher
Development
In the mid 80s with the increasing numbers of nuclear attack submarines such as the Ordosan Oscars and Lira, and Usadan Los Angeles and Seawolf the need for large numbers of ASW vessel arise. In 1984 official development program started, headed by Novyaski Shipbuilding the program was focused on efficiency and cost saving. Her design revolves around the ASuM-13N Daisy missile, a rocket launched torpedo for quickly dispatching submarines. She would also be equipped with all the necessary ASW assets such as hull mounted sonar, towed array, heavy anti submarine torpedo and helicopter facilities. She is envisioned to be working in large coordinated groups to hunt submarines in a wide area. Design work would be completed in 1986 and production soon after. With the Need for ships at an all time high the expansion of the novyaski was required. By 1987 Novyaski had become the largest shipyard in the world, able to produce 70 ships in a year. It's sheer size allow the production to be wrapped up in only 5 years. In total there would be 120 ships of the Ariene Class, all produced in the same shipyards. The shipyard would continue to be used for repairs, and construction of new classes.
Design
At a displacement of 7.200 tons and a length of 144 meters the Ariene is quite large for her designation. Even with the large size she is able to reach speed of up to 33 knots using 2x Marine Gas Turbine engine. She is heavily armed for a frigate, she is the smallest ship in the Arsenian Navy to be equipped with a light Railgun. She carry a powerful missile armament with mostly ASuM-13N Daisy anti submarine missile and AAM-220N Orcs medium range SAM. The ship also carry the Mark 82F torpedoes for destroying other torpedoes and submarine. As a last line of defense the ship would be equipped with the ASuR-44 grenade launchers for torpedoes and the Type-2 and Type-3 CIWS. The ship also feature chaff dispenser.
History
In 1988 ANS Ariene would be the the first ship in her class to be completed. After commissioning she would be stationed at the Arctic Circle. Her early career would mostly be filled with patrol and surveillance mission.
In 1991 the Ordosan civil war began, and the Artic Circle fleet was sent to help the communists side. Even though there was a large political divide the Arsenian fleet and what remain of the Ordosan fleet still loyal to the party manage to work together. The Ariene would be part of operation big bang, the neutralizing of rebel submarines and surface ships.
The would be part of the hunt for the submarine K-322 Kashlot, where she and several other frigate work together to destroy the rebel subs. She would also be part of the Murmansk rescue operation where she would be protecting the Battleship Berserker and Vycarium in rescuing trapped Ordosan troops besieged in Murmansk.
After the Civil War the Ariene would continue her quiet career in the quite artic.
Control
Pitch : forward
Yaw : turning
AG1+VTOL : grenade launcher horizontal
AG1+Trim : grenade launcher vertical
AG2+VTOL : torpedo launcher
AG3 : towed array sonar extend/retract
AG5 : launch all torpedoes
Notes
When you spawn it in the ship will sink and ther surface again, this is normal, when doing this there is a chance that the towed array would detach.
Careful with the torpedoes, they're blast radius is sizeable
The grenade launcher doesn't do much damage
