Missile m.5
This is a simple missile I’ve been working on. The main quirk is that this is entirely built out of standard parts with no xml modification aside from funky trees inputs. Just spawn it in, select a target, and it’ll do its best. It has no proximity fuse but it doesn’t need it most of the time as it will usuallt hit its target fairly well. Sometimes it’ll go unstable if it locks on while going to slow. The programming is very simple, it just has two phases, a glide and a terminal. During glide, the pitch commands to try to climb in proportion to rate(IAS) and yaw commands pursuit navigation. In the terminal phase, it does a version of pronav. This is a skid to turn missile as well so we try to keep our roll at 0 but it doesn’t necessarily need this as the CAS is programmed to compensate for rollangle. It also tends to be pretty fast, from standard launch positions, it seems to get up to about 3100 mph TAS before running out of fuel (it’s actually fuel limited rather than drag). It does also have a bad habit of shaking somewhat at high speeds. It has two separate methods of control, it has a tvc in the form of two rotating vtol nozzles which rotate to an angle determined by figuring out a useful mix of pitch/yaw control authority balance (it’s pretty fun to watch the little spike on the rear rotate around in proprtion to which direction it’s trying to go).
