Auto Credit Based on Mahoots's [CLOSED] [PU] Solo Strike Fighter Program

This aircraft is designed by Peace Walker Desgin Bureau.

Lore

The A-8 Spearhead is a twin-engine strike fighter designed by PWDB to bid for the PRAF's strike aircraft programm in the 60s.
The evolution of SAMs led to new low altitude assault tactics for strike aircraft. PW engineers carefully choose the configuration that can fulfill the requirements. The eventual design is aircraft with shoulder-mounted medium-swept wing, conventional tail plane. Which provide good high-subsonic speed and manuverability performance. High air density at low altitude lead to higher drag. Therfore PW engineers use an unusual vertically stacked twin engine to reduce the cross-section of the fuselage while having the high thrust of two engines.
The aircraft is fitted with state of the art avionics. Including a multi-function radar that can scan air and surface targets. A fire-control computer links the sensors to the displays in the cockpit, one novelity is the head-up display that projects the flight data to the pilot's line of sight so they no longer need to look down. Other avionics includes armament management system, inertial navigation system and electronic countermeasures suite.
For the offence, 3 pairs of hardpoint is fitted under the wing that can carry a variety of bombs, rocket, missiles or mission pods. Maximum load is 3700kg. A 20mm gatling gun is internally mounted.

Of course nothing is perfect. The compact fuselage with fuel-thirsty twin turbojet engines hinders its endurance. Pilots also complained about the heavy workload of operating all the sophisticated systems while flying the aircraft all alone.

Test

According to the test pilots comment. The A-8 Spearhead is

Handles nicely even when fully loaded. Feels a bit heavy but still response well.

The twin engine makes her a breast. The acceration is crazy.
