PocketBoats: USS North Carolina
This marks the start of my 1/10 scale ship line. I thought it was a fitting start because the North Carolina was the first WWII museum ship I visited. AG 1 and 2 for the primary battery of 9 16 inch guns and AG for the secondary 5 inchers. I purposefully left small details out for my own sanity.
General Facts of the Real Ship
The North Carolina was laid down in 1937 and was finished in 1941. She was the first fast battleship and is 728 ft (222.12 m) long. The North Carolina was commissioned April 9th 1941 and served in World War 2. She took a torpedo near the Solomon Islands on September 15, 1942. The ship was then decommissioned in 1947 and finally became a museum in 1962 in Wilmington, North Carolina where she still rests in the mud today open to the public.
