DHC F/A-99R "Schwarzevogel"

DESCRIPTION

SYNOPSIS

The F/A-99R is a large, multirole aircraft developed by DHC for the German Luftwaffe. It is the corporation's third aircraft, and it is the corporation's most expensive multirole fighter project yet.

PREDECESSOR FLAWS

After the F/A-90's production in late 2019, said aircraft was criticized for its top speed way slower than most aircraft of the time and for its moderately flimsy and weak airframe.

DESIGN

ENGINES

As of early 2020, the DHC in invested in designing their own engines that are strong enough to push an aircraft to speeds achieved by other fourth generation aircraft of the time. The engines are eerily quiet in their cruise throttles set of around 30-50 percent, adding to the F/A-99R'S stealth factor.

AIRFRAME

The aircraft has a balanced roll and pitch maneuverability, which is enhanced by thrust vectors. The F/A-99R still uses the airframe innovations from its predecessor, although the airframe buckles ever so slightly when the aircraft flies straight in its top speed of around Mach 2.5. The aircraft's speed, added with its thrust vectors, makes it way more agile than its slow, lumbering predecessor.

LANDING GEAR

The DHC invested in creating custom landing gear for the F/A-99R, only to discover that the gear was unstable due to the aircraft being two times heavier than the F/A-68. This resulted to the corporation resorting to the standard landing gear sold in the market, though they made adjustments to the suspension to accommodate the aircraft's weight.

WEAPONS

The DHC also invested in creating custom missiles equipped with state-of-the-art quick-lock systems and 360° missile lock angles and cannons formidable to the A-10 Thunderbolt's GAU-8 Avenger gatling cannon.

PRODUCTION

All the aforementioned improvements from the F/A-90 makes the F/A-99R a menacing foe both on enemy air and ground units alike, earning nicknames like the "Flanker Killer," "Zerstorer Des Mitternacht," and "Black Baron." The aircraft is produced in larger numbers than its predecessor, with a total of 739 units and counting with 71 in current active service in the Luftwaffe.

ARMAMENT

The aircraft's weapon payload is specified below:
- 2x DHC Wittelsbach MK.2R75 High Speed Cannons
- 4x DHC Rivera Cruz Type 18 Unguided Bombs [Boom 50s]
- 10x DHC AM-28 W.Richtofen AAM Missiles [Interceptors]
- 6x DHC GM-19 F.K.Herschel ASM/AGM Missiles [Infernos]
- 2x DHC FGP-193R High Speed Miniguns

CONTROLS

The controls for the aircraft are specified below:
- AG1 : Toggle Navigational Lights
- AG2 : N/A
- AG3 : Jettison Fuel Tanks
- AG4 : Toggle Thrust Vectors
- AG5 : Toggle Carrier Landing Hook
- AG6 : Toggle Chaff SET A
- AG7 : Toggle Chaff SET B
- AG8 : Toggle Chaff SET C
- VTOL : Flaps
- Brakes : Air Brakes
- AG4 + Yaw : Horizontal Thrust Vectors
- AG4 + Pitch : Vertical Thrust Vectors

LANDING PROCEDURES

The proper process of landing the aircraft is specified below:
- Decrease speed to around 310 mph
- Align aircraft to airstrip, and aircraft must be completely stable on its roll axis
- If landing on a carrier, toggle AG5 to lower landing hook
- Set flaps all the way down
- Use brakes and adjust trim accordingly
- Upon final approach, decrease and maintain speed to around 290mph
- If descending too sharply, push throttle upwards for a split second and idle throttle afterwards
- Land aircraft with the nose angled 15 degrees upwards as much as possible
- Once aircraft has touched down, hold the brakes until the aircraft comes to a full halt

CAUTION

  • DO NOT engage thrust vectors when taking off without fuel tanks, doing so will make the aircraft spin uncontrollably on its pitch axis
  • DO NOT engage thrust vectors when landing, doing so will yield the same results
