RCP Engineering D-01-200 Condor
After who knows how long, the livery is finished.
(Even though this goes against a few things wanted in the livery and in the actual challenge, my tablet is choking, so let's hope the description makes up for it)
Condor (airline), or Condor Flugdienst GmbH, is a German leisure airline founded in 1955 with Frankfurt being its main base. Condor offers scheduled flights to leisure destinations and operates, from Germany, medium-haul flights to the Mediterranean Basin and the Canary Islands as well as long-haul flights to destinations in Africa, Asia, North America, South America and the Caribbean. Whereas medium-haul flights are operated from many German airports (and Zurich), long-haul flights usually depart from Frankfurt, with a few rotations operated from Düsseldorf and Munich.
The RCP Engineering D-01-200 was brought into the fleet in 1990 as the airline was expanding rapidly. 70 were first brought into service from RCP Engineering, and its use was mostly on trips to the Holy Land (Israel or the Levant), as a cheap and fast substitute for pilgrims. Later on, in 1995, it was used for routes from Frankfurt, Munich, and Hamburg as a regional hopper to vacations destinations. After Thomas Cook acquired Condor, it was used to travel to Vienna for the first time in 2010, and was finally opened up to flights to Poland, Greece, Slovenia, and the UK. Thomas Cook AG has 36 of these aircraft left inservice, and hopes to acquire 9 more from RCP.
Accidents and Incidents:
Condor Flight 436:
On December 20, 1991, a Condor RCP D-01-200 was written off after it crash-landed on approach to Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport, Lebanon. It slid off the runway as a result of the incompetent pilots failing to recognise the MDA. No deaths reported out of the 67 on board, 5 injured.
Condor Flight 441 (Operating on behalf of Hapag-Lloyd)
On July 6, 1999, Condor Flight 441 crashed on approach to London Heathrow, England due to an engine problem leaving them without power on final. With 45 out of 98 people surviving, it is the worst crash involving a RCP D-01-200.
