CL (C Leopard) 1A1 main battle tank is a main battle tank developed by Germany in the 1970s and produced in large quantities after 1980. Its purpose is to replace most of the American-made M59 series medium-sized tanks in the military and counter the new generation of main battle tanks in the Warsaw Pact camp.
(At this time, the M59 has been unable to effectively deal with the armor force of the Warsaw Pact, while most of the NATO member countries are equipped with the same M59, and can only shake in front of the more advanced and unknown Soviet tanks)
The development of the tank originated from the "Rhino" main battle tank plan jointly developed by Germany and USA in 1964. After the plan was terminated due to differences between the two sides, Germany put most of the technology in the project into the later "C Leopard" plan. In January 1975, the first CL prototype vehicle was officially launched. After five years of testing and improvement, C Leopard was officially put into service and produced in 1980.
In the military conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact four years later, C Leopard became the mainstay of resistance to the flood of armor of the Warsaw Pact. In the conflict, Yunbao also met a powerful opponent, the Soviet T-85 main battle tank.

Cool tank but some realism is necessary in fiction so the Centurion an M48 series I honestly don't see how or why America or Britain would ditch they're beloved tanks especially the brits with the Centurion they didn't decommission it tell the challenger 1 an even then it's still in service too this day in some countries an not to mention without the Centurion the MBT as a whole wouldn't exist probably tell the early 2000s since it was thee very first MBT
@Yuper I can see the Leo 1 not existing but the Centurion an M48 M60 I can't see as Centurion was built an produce during WW2 an the M48 an M60 were designed in the late 40s to 50s an i don't see a realistic point of view not to mention America's disbelief in welded turrets tell the Abrams as America didn't discontinue cast turrets tell after the M60

You do needa check your facts better before posting history in your descriptions the M59 was a APC during the 60s to 70s Germany had the Leo 1 America the M41 M60 an M48 an British had its dominant Centurion all of which were more then capable of dealing with Soviet armor an the M59 wasn't a slouch either with it being able to be fitted with any assortment of weaponry tho at the expense of the design limitations tho it is a fictional story the M59 wouldn't be Germany's main tank in any sense of realism or fiction since it was never a medium tank but a APC
