@Ephwurd ok fair point about the guns, but it is made for the tinland empire so it can’t be a pirate ship, and I guess it’s like a star destroyer where it’s good against bigs ships but not fighters
@Aarons123 point defense cannons are still more accurate than standard main guns when hitting small targets. Its like trying to shoot down a plane with both a 30mm CIWS and 70mm cannon. I have a feeling that your ship here would best suit a piracy role, as it has both the cargo space and weaponry
@Ephwurd those cannons are ment to be some what like the turbo lasers from Star was so there multi purpose, there so big compared to the rest of the ship because I did have any smaller guns lol, and the ships design is to ship cargo with minimal escorts, that’s why the guns are so powerful, to attack capital ships. Also if you needed to shoot down fighters, just load less plasma into the gun. And I still think that almost half of the ship being devoted just for energy storage is more then enough to power the guns.
@Aarons123 it's still too much for a 700m cargo ship. Small point defense guns would be sensible as freighters prioritize cargo and would be on a more defensive than an offensive standpoint. Plus it requires energy to propel the plasma out of the barrel. For example an rail-propelles plasma gun not only requires power to turn gas to plasma, but also for the rail mechanism to propel the plasma over long distances.
@Ephwurd it’s actually 700 meters long as in the second photo the controll deck thing is small compared to the hull and the outer wing things on the side are completely comprised of generators. The rest is cargo and living quarters and stuff. And the plasma cannons don’t need that much energy to keep the plasma plasma while it’s in storage before it fires, you need a lot of energy to turn gas to plasma but only a fourth or so to keep it plasma and then zero energy after it fires, that’s why the bolts of plasma will eventually cool down and be useless and gas.
I love having small arguments like this where We can continuesly prove each other wrong lol,
Wait why does a 100m long cargo ship have 30 turrets??? Where are you gonna put the power plants? The cargo space would be extremely compromised plus the power demand would be off the roof
