Westland Brasidas MKI 2.6

237k RamboJutter  6.0 years ago

So a mix of Westland Lysander, Dehavilland Dragon Rapide and Dakota (heaviliy inspired by the Beech Staggerwing, thanks chichiwerx for reminding me that i hadnt referenced it)

Designed as a fast transport for use in ferrying VIP's picking up spies and recovered pilots from occupied territories etc. Armament was installed initially and consisted of 4 20mm cannons to assist in any interdiction targets of oportunity or assist in clearing any hot landing zones.

Ag1 for flaps, Gear for gear. Last one of mine for a while i think, this one has been in the to do list for ages and ive rebuilt the fuselage completely at least twice.

‘Lysander’ of course he was, that would be me with a few lines to write. Maybe not nowadays mind :) now the founder of the spartan regime he deserves a rugged fighter/bomber named after him..... @RamboJutter

@ChiChiWerx Thanks again, i forgot to add the Beech Staggerwing as the main source of inspiration, ive always liked the look of that plane, i was going to leave this unarmed but where the fun in that =)

@Tang0five rofl, its google at its best, i had a westland lysander on the screen so i googled lysander, turns out he was a spartan general hence Brasidas who was also a spartan general. I thought it fit for this build as its the sort of thing that would have ferried pilots about.

Top stuff, very original and it totally looks the part! Like the name - is that classics ‘forced’ into you from school or is that just the history buff in you?

Completely ridiculous, essentially a Combat Staggerwing, but really fun. I like those WWII style builds that can strafe and kill ground targets...very nice!

@Mumpsy nope was me being a tool. I kept it there through all the testing so I could quickly alter or add any bits and then completely forgot to delete it prior to posting.....

@RamboJutter I was wondering what was going on there. I thought it was new building technique that I was not aware of. Ha!
