Plans were on the table to replace the aging 86 fleet with a newer fighter craft, the 625R, however many veteran pilots wanted a continuation of the proven 86 so CV commissioned EAS with the task of making a much faster, and more deadlier version. The 86x features upgrades that all across the board enhances the craft. The "x" designation was given for the craft extension to the fighters abilities. The 86x is faster, more agile, has a much smaller turning radius and a larger payload capacity as opposed to the 86y. Unlike a 625R the 86x utilizes manual control dynanmic wings which the pilot has full control of during flight.

The 86x hasn't seen much action yet as opposed to it's predecessors but it has been used on intercept missions around the EAS test facilty intercepting drones and fighter bombers. Ultimately the engineers leave the future of this craft to the pilots that'll fly them.
