Fictional History
The Dassault Betajet is an advanced trainer inspired by the Dassault Alphajet, aimed at training pilots of the squadrons embarked on the French aircraft carriers. However, in 1975 budget cuts forced the project to be canceled. Five units were built, which are currently in service, in training, reconnaissance and light attack tasks. Recently the aircraft has been updated with advanced electronics and Barrax 2 missiles that incorporate dynamic countermeasures, which increase the aircraft's ability to survive. This system is being tested to be incorporated in the new versions of Dassault Rafale. Theoretically it allows firing an air-to-air missile and launching flares and chaff from it, confusing radar and enemy missiles.
