The Eternal War
"The War That Froze Time"
The year is 2025, but the world feels like it never moved past the 1950s. The Second World War, once expected to end in a matter of years, has instead calcified into a perpetual stalemate. No decisive victory was ever claimed. Instead, as resources dwindled, populations grew weary, and economies collapsed, the great powers were forced into a kind of tense inertia.
By 1953, it was clear: no side could win. The United Axis and Allied Forces each held strongholds across different continents, fortified lines, and oceans full of steel and secrets. The world was divided—not just by ideology, but by exhaustion.
The State of the World
Most nations are technically still at war, but the global conflict has evolved into a low-intensity, ritualistic theater of attrition. The frontlines have barely moved in decades. Attacks are sparse—perhaps a few per year. These strikes are less about strategy now and more about symbolism, honor, and the illusion of progress.
In this fractured timeline:
Modernity crawls. With nations stuck in wartime economies and technological constraints, progress has slowed. Microchips are rare, computers are bulky, and jet aviation never matured.
Propaganda endures, but it’s become ceremonial. Posters fade, radios echo dusty speeches, and entire cities live in a kind of preserved twilight of the past.
The civilian world is weary, fractured into pockets of relative peace or paramilitary control. Some cities still look like 1944, others like dystopian ruins partially reconstructed with whatever could be salvaged.
General Corp Inc. and the New Machines
Out of the ashes rose militarized corporations like General Corp Inc. (GCI). With governments too unstable or too stubborn to innovate, these mega-industrial entities took over the design and production of armored warfare. One of their creations is the SHTD.704/130 “Scare”, a self-propelled heavy tank destroyer that encapsulates this alternate era’s blend of desperation, tradition, and brutality.
