Second entry for WinsWing’s WW2 Fighter Rush Challenge, the fictional Republic F5R Seabolt. The Republic P-47 was an amazing fighter during WW2, so I decided to do a Navy version. By modifying the body, and changing the turbocharging system behind the cockpit, this became a great high altitude fighter that can takeoff and land on the carrier. Although there were P-47s carried on escort carriers and launched off them, is was for ferrying only, with very few combat scramble missions. This F5R is built for the carrier, with folding wings (VTOL down), tail hook (AG 5), and trim flaps to take off the carrier, this allows high altitude intercepting with a huge amount of firepower. Bolt across the sea with the Seabolt.
