Background

The M257B Dirge is a Federation 8x8 Heavy Resupply Truck. The basic cargo versions were designed to transport a 15,000 lbs cargo load over all terrain in all weather. Designed in the early 1960s to replace the M244 Vladimir series of trucks, it has been in service ever since. The M257 evolved into its own family of cargo trucks, prime movers, and recovery vehicles, with about 39,000 in all produced.

M257B Dirge is able to act as a supply truck for all types of forces on the ground. Carrying ammunition for artillery pieces or equipment for tanks and infantry. Munitions too large can be strapped in with the back opened down. In addition to carrying equipment, the vehicle can act as a heavy troop transport with a capacity for 70 people when seats are installed.
