A 60s Beauty

background

The ferrari 312p and 312p berlinetta are 2 prototype cars built by ferrari and raced in the 1969 and 1970 IMSA season. The 312p was an open cockpit prototype while the berlinetta version was enclosed. The 312p was equipped with a 3.0L V12 DOHC (Duel OverHead Cam) engine creating 450hp at 10,800RPM and giving the 312 a top speed of almost 200mph.

race history

The 312s first registered race was at the 12 hours of sebring in the 1969 race. Ferrari only submitted one 312 with Mario Andretti at the helm with Chris Amon, and were able to place 2nd. Testing proved that the design needed greater areodynamic efficancy so the berlinetta version was created. The only major documented race with the berlinetta was at the 24hours of le mans in 1969, both finished 5th and 6th but did not finish. The dominance of the Porsche 908 and the addition of the Prosche 917 meant that the European branch of ferrari racing would have to rely on the new 512 too keep it competitive.

controls

Pitch and roll for throttle and steering
Brake for brake
Ag1- doors
Ag2- rear hood
Ag3- lights (headlights and rear strobes)

Builders Note: this is a fairly old build, think i started it around mid January or so but its pretty darn good. Its not as good at the 488 but it definitely works. The speed is as close as ill get it and the interior is about as detailed as ill make it. The car was super fun to make and i hope you enjoy!

Keep looking to the stars

@F1Fan8910 yep, definitely. 1 thing definitely to note is that when making wheel arches, its best to fuselage slice it so it can look smooth.

@PapaKernels i'm making decent cars from looking at images. So maybe more Blueprint practices could make a better job.

@F1Fan8910 I am going to be making a tutorial video in a few weeks but until then, make the blueprints oversized so that you can get as much detail as possible, then scale it down. To make good cars honestly takes practice so just follow the lines of the car and you should be good.

@PapaKernels Do you have any tips of making an accurate car? I'm having problems with Blueprints.
