YAK-28 Firebar (Custom Missiles)

573 SVT13  7.3 years ago

The "Firebar" was the interceptor variant of the multi role Yak-28 airframe, and the recipient of in my opinion the best NATO code name. It is depicted in early Soviet bare metal finish.
Equipped with a pair of AA-3 "Anab" medium range radar guided missiles, and a pair of AA-2 "Atoll" short range IR missiles.
Much like the real thing, this plane is somewhat unforgiving during takeoff and landing. This is mostly caused by the main landing gear position and the upward an ngle it sits at while at rest. During take off, pull up as soon as the rear landing gear lifts off, if you don't it will start wobbling, the wing tip gear "see-sawing" which tends to lead to disintagration.

For landing, jetison any unused sotres (AG 4) and make sure the rear gear touches down first.

Controls:
Afterburner (AG1) .
Dragchute (AG2).
Jetison weapons (AG4).
To use the AA-3 just select the "interceptor" missile and use it as normal, though be warned, if you pull high G manuvers the missile gets rattled, and will often fail to fly straight.

Historical note: The AA-2 "Atoll" was the Soviet's "totally not a sidewinder wink wink" missile, and since the gaurdian is Simple planes "totally not a sidewinder wink wink" so to save frustruation I decided to just use the guardian.
Shoutout to @WNP78 for telling me how to make custom missiles.

Reuploaded to fix a mirroring issue I forgot to remove.
