Wow, this is incredible! I can't think of a more amazing engine starting sequence than in the original Flight of the Phoenix. Only seven chances to start the engine, and after firing each time, the impulse mags clack as they desperately try to get their last lifeline to start... The engine stuttering as the pilot, an actual B-24 pilot during the war, struggles to get just the right fuel/air mixture... I watch that scene over again and again!
Even the remnants from the C-82? Awesome! Yeah, flying out of Bandit Airport feels pretty awesome!
It was, because one of the wings, from the boom to the tip, was damaged beyond repair.
@Brields95 was it? it was difficult to tell from the online photos and it's been many moons since ive seen the movie.I want to add some other details in the future but im just not skilled enough yet to do them yet.
If I remember correctly the main wing was.offset on one side.
