Chiniquodon Theotonicus is a type of species from the Santa Maria Formation in Brazil and the Chañares Formation in the Ischigualasto-Villa Unión Basin in northwestern Argentina. This species is well-known for its skulls. The holotype is in the paleontological collection of the University of Tübingen, Germany. Chiniquodon is a genus of prehistoric mammals that are closely related to a contemporary genus, few of the individuals; Probelesodon, and Theotonicus, are very close to the ancestry of mammals. Other dinosaurs contemporaries included early therapsids. As both groups filled a similar ecological niche, large therapsid hunters such as Chiniquodon would have been outcompeted by dinosaurs.
