The threat of an invasion fleet has forced the New Wright Republic to create some countermeasures. They placed rocket artillery at the coast, gathered up patrol vessels and created a small Kamikaze sub. The JPA-23 Nord (Jet Powered Attack) is one of these defenses. Armed with six rocket pods, it can deal devastating damage to warships ranging from torpedo boats to cruisers if the ammunition rooms are hit. One of the NWR's first aces was Polish-born Jakub Piotr. He had moved to Wright to serve as a commercial pilot but when the nationwide draft occured he signed up for the military. He had flown Kraken torpedo bombers in 2019 before moving in to fighter planes. His finest hour came on May 23 2021 when a large group of heavy landing craft approached Wright Airbase and he and his comrades scrambled and got their planes ready. Since the fleet from Snowstone also had escorts, it was their job to destroy any naval vessels that came to stop the advance. Jakub claimed to have sunk 3 landing craft and a destroyer. He came back to rearm but his engine was damaged. He decided to only rearm and fight on. He managed to sink a cruiser by aiming at its main guns, igniting the shells inside. He had to bail out because of his plane going in a stall. A few months after, his plane was recovered from the ocean and put in a museum.
