Dauntless Cat production version
Hi
This is my second entry for Battle of Midway Challenge(Fictional only).
Story time.
In an alternate universe where Grumman can't produce enough wings for their fighter, F4F Wildcat, so many Wildcat just sit in the factory pointlessly waiting for a wing or two.
Meanwhile Douglass suffered the same problem, not enough wings and engine for their top of the line aircraft, Dauntless dive bomber. There are so many fuselage lying around the factory.
So... an unnamed engineer just happened to working with fuel tank for so long and sniffed too much gasoline came up with an idea.
He talk to engineer of Douglass and Grumman about his idea to make an aircraft from incomplete Wildcat and Dauntless!!
And they liked it and even slapped B-17 ball turret into it.
And then the Dauntless Cat was born, it was intended to be long range interceptor but can also perform dive bombing thanks to it's dive brake.
Unknown number of the Dauntless Cat were produced before the manufacturing capability of Wildcat and Dauntless wings meets it demand.
Here at the battle of midway, several Dauntless Cat stationed at the island to intercept and defend from an enemy attack.
Controls:
-AG1: Drop all bombs.(I just make it drop bombs old fashion way, no bomb sight)
-AG2: Enable turret mode. (cycle through camera to find turret view, I suggest using mouse to control the turret)
-AG3: Invert Y axis on turret mode.
-trim to trim
ENJOY!!!

Oh, I see
@SimpleplanesTerTech
No, I said S B double Dee on purpose to sound like Snoop D-O-double-G.
@GuyFolk it’s pronounced as individual letters. So it’s S-B-D-D!
@SimpleplanesTerTech
S B double Dee.
That sound like some gangster rap.
It’s an SBDD!
Scout Bomber Double Douglas!
@Cyan
Thanks, back then I just started messing with custom cockpit and first time using fuselage wing.
So that is what I can do lol.

8/10 Aesthetics. Nice work on the wings, but the cockpit.... you used a default cockpit which works but you didnt use much effort on it...
5/5 Weaponry Realism. Self explanatory
4/5 Marketing. Nice job, but the blue color of the plane blends in with the sea
(August 3rd, suggested by Bearclaw) 13/20 Resemblance to real aircraft (will it work in real life?) Eh.... i’m not sure if the USA would accept this unusual design..
I love it!
@GuyFolk no. just like the idea of the combination. only nitpick i have is the front elevators. other than that its quite good
@teodor99 You in the Midway Challenge? I'll be waiting to see your plane :D
finally, a worthy plane
