EAS-435 Pulsar

Planned Updates: The current update is scheduled to go out next week to patches a roll issue, and will be using a RCN system which I'm trying to make stable. I also planning on putting in an actual cockpit.

Controls
Read All Notes, Unconventional Flight System

  • AG1: Main Flight
  • AG2: VTOL/Hover Engine
  • AG3: Activate Weapons

Note 1: This vehicle is a VTOL landing and Takeoff only. You must first go into a HOVER (AG2) at least 80% power in order to land and takeoff, and switch to FLIGHT mode (AG1) to fly forward. Remember to turn off AG2 once you are in FLIGHT mode (AG1).

Note 2: This vehicle does not use control surfaces to fly, you must have at power to the engines in order to control Pitch, Yaw, and Roll. There is an RCN variant in the works with no power input, but right now it's too unstable to release. For RCN test variant use link:

Description
Type: Ship Launched Fighter
Crew: 1 Pilot
Weapons: 20 mm Multi-cannon, 7 Guardians

Manufacturer: Avenel Flight

Overview:
The Pulsar is a simple and basic space fighter, with an emphasis on cramming as much as possible into a very small, sleek chassis. Utilizing a standard 2x5 missile bay, and a multi-cannon module it is a very straight forward layout found on many Avenel fighters, and gives this craft plenty of firepower.

The chrome finish, and accent lighting makes this fighter very enjoyable to look at, as well as emphasizes the unique style of Avenel design. Where many pilots might struggle is mastering the hover system, especially those who are used to conventional landing, and relying on vectorizing thrust as opposed to moving wing surfaces to control the craft. A more advance RCN version is in the works and will be using a completely update cockpit as well.

Overall, the Pulsar is a proof of concept. Still in it's early stages, but ideas learned from this craft are already being implemented on other fighter designs.

Builders Notes
I was interested in making something with a parts budget of 500 parts for mobile performance, fly without control surfaces, the airbrakes on the craft don't do anything for control, they just look cool. It is an odd design, but the point of this design was to build something different.

You'll be switching between AG1 and AG2 (Hover to Flight) for landing and takeoff, VTOL is more of a way of life. The yaw has a tendency to spin the craft out, it is a bit touchy. Also, I designed it with the intent of the color being changed around easily so you can make this craft more unique to what you want. Also, I know this thing has 7 missiles not 6, I just realized I put the upgraded bays, but at this point, this upload is more archiving for mobile transfer. This thing is a proof of concept so expect more refined designs in the future.

Nice. The building techniques used on the bottom surfaces are quite interesting. I should take notes.

@idk201011323 Thanks for the heads up. I'm probably going to release an updated version that uses trim to counter the roll. It worked pretty well, just annoying because after going over 500 parts, the only solution I have for it is weird SP Physics. I might as add the cockpit I wanted and tune the RCN.

ok. it’s a good looking build

@idk201011323 yeah I noticed, I use mouse and keyboard, so it's not as bad, but I think it's because it uses too many independent panels, with different drag values, or maybe the center of mass sits above the wings. I may patch it in the future. I'll be honest I didn't expect people to notice this thing.

    it tends to roll left

@LITVYAK013INDUSTRIES you might be talking about the wrong plane, that or you're an incredible pilot since this thing doesn't have much air to ground capabilities, or floats. That isn't a bad idea though, and to make things float, all you need to do is just adjust the buoyancy setting on the part that touches the water.

I love this plane, it's fun to destroy the convoy and attack the USS BEAST, how do you make it so stable, and how do you make it float? I could use it on my planes.
