Funky Trees Challenge
A funky trees challenge, sort of to celebrate becoming platinum. Thank you everyone for the support these last 2 and a half years! On to the challenge- with the release of 1.9.205, Funky Trees has once more received a variety of game-changing features.
Your task is to create a creation utilizing various Funky Trees features to create innovative systems. Competitors should submit an entry that meets the following requirements (if the requirements are not met, the entry will not be graded):
- A successor to this build.
- Contains at least 1 (one) Funky Trees expression, with its location (in the build demonstrator), objective, and logic explained in detail.
- Submitted Before May 1st.
If requirements are met, entries will be graded on the following categories:
1. Objective-oriented creation:
Your Funky Trees expression should have a very specific goal in mind. The funky trees expression should reflect this factor. Your description should detail the objective of your input.
If you have a non-specific goal with your FT expression, you will not receive this point.
This category is worth one point.
2. Generalizability
Your Funky Trees expression should be able to be presented in a general form. That is, it should be able to be presented in a nonspecific manner, such that other users can also use the input for a similar purpose. For example, the general, slope-intercept form of a line is usually denoted as y = mx+b
. For a more SimplePlanes-specifc example, use this post for reference.Your description should present the general form of your expression, and also explain potential applications of the expression you designed.
This category is worth one point.
3. Simplicity / Weight
Whenever possible, your expression should be simplified as much as possible to take up as small of a data load as possible. For expressions with a complex nature, the simplicity will be judged upon my insight into the expression, looking to find possible spots to simplify the expression.
This category is worth five points.
4. Functionality / Originality
Simple; your funky trees expression should perform very well at the task it is intended for. It should be intuitive and novel.
This category is worth five points.
5. Presentation
Your description should detail the mechanics of your funky trees expression. The description should elaborately explain the logic behind the creation of the FT expression. It will likely be obvious, but please indicate where in your demonstrator contains the expression.
The build you present your input with does not to be beautiful- it’s cool if it is, but this will not be a factor in the judging. Looks are very subjective; this way I eliminate one major factor of bias.
In fact, the sole purpose of your physical build is to be a demonstrator- however, the physical build itself should be able to faithfully carry out the purpose of a demonstrator, able to demonstrate your expression's capabilities well.
This category is worth ten points.
Overall, this challenge is designed to be as simple and lightweight as possible. Do not spend copious amounts of time trying to build a beautiful demonstrator. Obviously, there is no part count limit or requirement. I only wish to see creative, intuitive, and functionally powerful funky trees expressions.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the challenge. If you wish to learn funky trees in great detail, please visit this page:

@SnoWFLakE0s There's nothing else in SimplePlanes that I want other that a learning FT....... (Maybe) Oh yes... Can you give me a code for Engine that can Reverse, forward? also the wiper, please
Funky trees= redstone
You fill so many holes i didnt think i had
OK.@SnoWFLakE0s
@WIZARD2017
.
Not any that I know of.
Sorry to bother you, may I ask if there is a way to make the countermeasure flare keeps deploying.
@Thueerra the challenge has ended 1st May, but try me, i'm quite funky!
@nadvgia anything very super funky :D
@Thueerra what were you wish to create with them?
Well, this challenge is not for me:D even tho i tried to learn funky trees, i just get nowhere with them..
Hey @SnoWFLakE0s what functions can you put inside a PID controller and are PIAnd D just numbers?
Can u help me with my passcode ft? I almost have it, but it says it’s invalid.
If my expression is super short and simple, (like just one ternary selection or something) but it still performs it’s task perfectly, does that affect my score in a negative way (cause it’s so basic)?
I FINALLY HAVE SOMETHING TO ENTER
YESSS
sum(clamp01(abs(rate(x))<1000)*rate(x))
Elimination of mutation
@SnoWFLakE0s ok. I had it already saved as its own thing and I had posted it, but I (edit:) wanted to make sure if that was okay.
@MRMDAWURM
.
If you don't have a good reason, then make it a successor.
Is it okay if I post a link in the comments?
Link to Chancey21's Entry @SnoWFLakE0s
@Chancey21
.
I'll say yes... I'll think about the other options though.
Does it have to be a successor? Because I have something that I really want to enter
@lemoose
.
Go ahead, will be judged separately.
Am I able to enter a second submission? I have an expression for fully automated leading edge slats id love to share.
sounds fun but I am too stupid to participate
