Blohm and Voss P.194.01
Blohm and Voss P.194.01
Background
The firm Blohm and Voss designed many aircraft with an asymmetrical design. The B&V P.194.1was one of their more radical designs. First laid out in 1944, the P.194 was designed to be a multirole aircraft that excelled as a heavy fighter, a dive bomber, a reconnaissance plane, and a ground attack aircraft. The arrangement of the cockpit earned the design the nickname “sidecar plane.” The aircraft was designed to be a twin engine aircraft that only had 2 drag bodies as opposed to three (fuselage and both engine nacelles.) As a result, it was expected to have high performance in line with the Do 335. Sadly this design never came to fruition because the war ended shortly after it was design.
