The GT-1 (Glide Torpedo 1) was an early form of stand-off weaponry developed by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Intended to deliver an aerial torpedo at a safe range from the launching aircraft, the weapon proved successful enough in testing to be approved for operational use, and the GT-1 saw limited use in the closing stages of the war.

@Ruskiwaffle1991 ya they usually deployed it from 5000 ft to 8000 ft.
It’s Essentially like the HS-293 or the HE-111H that could deploy a V-1, but it glides a torpedo to a certain range, goes to low altitude and drops the torpedo on target, it usually missed or the guiding got screwed, or shot down. But it was just enough to start service and get I think was it 4 to 5 ship kills in the pacific?
@ArkRoyalTheDDhunter so it is a bat bomb but a torpedo?
Is this the bat bomb?
Which was used on PB4Y’s.
I absolutely love the history of it and how it worked
