I have been working on this replica for some time now. It has proven very difficult to get the shape just right but BogdanX helped a bit with scaling! I have one of these little known jets outside the hangar i work at and i wanted to make one! Probably one of the more accurate F-89s on this site, i had help from Flightsonic with XML guidance so this sweet baby wouldnt only fly 200mph. Its a bit fast now but i prefer just a bit too fast over barely flyable...lol. Ease enjoy!! And provide feedback! AG1 releases the droptanks. AG2 and 3 are for missles.

@F89Scorpian not quite. It wasn’t the difference in the sizes of the target, the F6F being somewhat smaller than a bomber. It’s nearly impossible to hit either a bomber or fighter sized target with unguided rockets, unless you have some sort of computer assisted aiming. And that F6F wasn’t maneuvering, it was reportedly in a gentle turn during the attempted engagement. And having flown many hours of form, it’s actually easier to close on another aircraft if it’s in a gentle turn. There was a problem with the F-89s’ targeting system and they didn’t even have gunsights, which had been removed due to the targeting upgrade, so the task was impossible. Perhaps if their systems were working as advertised they could have accomplished the task. But even with fully operational systems, guided missiles are more effective, which explains why unguided rockets have fallen out of favor, despite having been used extensively on a number of aircraft, including this one and the ones you mention, in addition to the F-102 and the CF-100.
Battle of Palmdale, the rockets were an anti bomber armament. So against a small target they failed. The F-94C and the F-86 D had rockets too
@ChiChiWerx
This is the plane that replaced the XP-87 >:( , but nice job.
If I could figure out how to hid them I would lol!! @ChiChiWerx
Yes, the GAR-1&2 missiles actually retracted into those pods, the original armament were unguided air to air rockets! I think it was an F-89 trying to shoot down an out of control Navy F6F target drone that set the Los Angeles forest on fire in the 1960s. Didn't manage to shoot down the F6F despite expending all of its rockets. The missiles came later...much more effective 😎
@Insertname no problemo I like it very much 😊
Hey thanks man! @grizzlitn
Thanks a bunch!! Not very well known but I like them too! I see one that is a display outside my work every day and figured I should finally make it. The missles are a bit weird but the jet actually had them like that sometimes! @ChiChiWerx
Thank you!!@saturn28
Wow, very nice! I always have really liked the F-89...not sure why, maybe it's the clashing difference between it's straight wing, not very fast look and it's interceptor mission, determined despite the odds...the missiles are a great touch, as well.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I can probably do that!@Kevinairlines
