The Type 7 Medium Tank was designed in late 1944 as a possible future successor and replacement to the Japanese medium and light tanks currently in production and would have been a standardized tank. Armed with a powerful 117mm main cannon, it would have been a formidable vehicle for any American or Commonwealth tank at the time. Luckily for the Allies, the Type 7 never left the drawing board and remained a paper-project, with the original blueprints now on display in the Aerostyle Military Archive museum.
