RJ-DH super swallow 2.7

Introduction

I always liked the look of the DH 108 Swallow but felt with time it could have been improved in both looks and performance (but killing the son of the founder of the company kinda puts a bad spin on any aircraft design i suppose...)

So i designed a Super Swallow, it only roughly resembles the oringal, mainly in layout. The wings have less sweep (not by much) are wider, have dihedral and taper, the single engine has been replaced with two, the wings have been made to fold and an arrestor hook has been fitted. All of these alterations both improve versatility and make the aircraft suited for carrier bourne operations.

Built subsequent to the DH.100 Vampire and predating the DH.110 Sea Vixen the Super Swallow was a break from the original design for the DH 109 which was to be built ot specification N.8/49 and subsequently became the DH 109B. Its first flight was in September 1949.

Controls

AG1 = turn on the engines
AG3 = arrestor hook

    @WholeLottaBread slow? It does over 500mph in level flight which is easily comparable with aircraft of the era plus it handles smoothly without being too maneuverable or too sluggish. I'm wondering if your comparable slow brick is too fast :)

    @Tang0five thanks. The concept was an aircraft fitting between the sea venom and aircraft like the scimitar, sea vixen etc. Hence no reheat and no missiles but a future version may be adapted for both :) I actually might clips the wings quite a bit as well as it looked awesome when I was making the fold mechanism. It's funny for me, I can create a basic aircraft shape with flight model in a couple of hours, it's things like undercarriage doors and bendy roundels that take all the time (along with unsticking moving parts...) I seem to have figured out the proportion of wings needed with cog etc, mby its due to my hundreds if builds :)

    Wow cheers @RamboJutter for that, what a beaut! Could watch that gear cycling for a while - great job. I take it there will be a 60s style loadout maybe like the scimitar. I do like that FAA livery as well. I reckon a primitive style afterburner like the Supermarine swift has would be a cool touch - I think they’re of comparable age?? My brabazon is pretty much there. I always find flight dynamics to be a total pain to get right - I’m always amazed at how quickly you can go from concept to flying prototype.
