Mitsubishi TX-2 Blue tridents

Fictional History

The TX-2 is a derivation or a modified variation of the Mitsubishi T-2. Initially, the first derivation of the T-2, also known as the T-2 CCV, was built to prove the reliability of the fly-by-wire technology of the era, as other new computer automated systems are emerging in the aviation Industry.

Seeing the success of the T-2 CCV, Aulourian scientists were then given the order to acquire the T-2 for further testing of the fly-by-wire technology and other advanced avionics available at the time. This variation of the T-2 was called the T-2 MTD.

Not long after, the Aulourian Airforce along with the Aulourian Navy soon needed a replacement for their aging fleet of fighter jets. Thus, the introduction TX-2 was proposed during the meeting between the AARA (Aulourian Aerospace Research Administration), Aulouria's DOD, ARI (Aulourian Research Institute), the Aulourian Airforce, and the Aulourian Navy. Said aircraft was proposed to be capable of reaching new standards never seen before.

However, like other military programs, the final release of the aircraft was further delayed for many years. With this, upgrades to the TX-2 were made and a lot of the analog instruments were now changed with digital instruments. Modern warfare technology were also equipped into the fighter, which enhanced the fighting capabilities of the aircraft.

Although the avionics and technology of the aircraft were drastically improved, many have debated whether the aircraft is obsolete in our modern era. The use of multiple horizontal stabilizers and vertical stabilizers has immensely increased the radar cross section of the aircraft. Not only that, but the scientific knowledge and research acquired through out the years during the development of the aircraft, has proved some flaws with the design of TX-2. Subsequently, considering that the TX-2 was made in an era before BVRM weapons were available, the design philosophy of the aircraft (focusing on maneuverability) has also made it possibly less practical for modern warfare.
