Orbidyn-L
"Come close, in case I don't see you again."
Finally, the upload. This is my entry to Snowflake's funky trees challenge. This description will be long, but trust me - the information here only scratches the surface of this aircraft's technicalities.
Controls
Activator 1
: Enter "Landing Mode"
Activates a gyro
Decreases falling speed to 9mph, and gives the aircraft (some) forward speed
Gyro Pitch is controlled by Pitch
Careful! Throttle will make the aircraft go faster. Brake if you want a nearly-VTOL landing.
Activator 2
: RadiCor weapon online (FireGuns
to use it!)
Activator 8
: De-Activate LUNA system - The aircraft will no longer be weightless
Pitch
/Roll
/Yaw
/Throttle
: Standard aircraft control
Trim
: Adjust movement sensitivity
Lower trim to lower sensitivity
Move trim up to increase sensitivity
Tips
Landing is a bit odd. For best results, fly low above the runway, cut the throttle, and press Activator 1
.
If you must taxi, make sure that you have Activator 8
off.
Take off by pitching up, THEN bringing up the throttle.
Orbidyn-L comes with dual-mounted main guns, IMPULSE PRIME, and two new weapons - RadiCor and the Orbidyn Disruptor. Read the instructions for each weapon to properly use it.
IMPULSE PRIME
A staple of conventional air-to-air confrontation, this missile brute-forces its way through enemy countermeasures through its instant lock re-establishment.
To use the weapon, select “IMPULSE PRIME” from your ATA menu, establish a lock, and fire. Note that there is a wide targeting angle, and that the max range is ~2mi.
RadiCor
RadiCor is a high-yield defensive system that achieves its incredible damage output through a short, yet noticeable charge cycle. In other words, it must warm up before it fires. This weapon can one-shot the USS Beast.
To use the weapon, press activator 2. When the weapon is deployed, press and hold your FireGuns button until the weapon fires. Note that the weapon is semi-auto.
Orbidyn Disruptor
Dual-mounted Orbidyn Disruptors serve as Orbidyn-L's primary ATG weapon. These weapons achieve consistent damage through their burst-fire capabilities.
To use the weapon, select "Orbidyn Disruptor" from your ATG menu. Please note that you will only be able to fire the weapon in bursts.

Oh boy, that was a long description. If you even read a fraction of it, then I greatly appreciate you. Special thanks to SPMC for some general feedback, and for helping me debug my (very barebones) screenshot mod!

Excellent work
this is HOVER alien spacecraft
Good 10/10
@spefyjerbf could you make a cockpit for this build? I think that'd be pretty awesome.
@TheMightyBuildDigger you might be thinking of another build, Edgecrusher, which uses a roughly similar flight system, as well as a blended wing shape
@spefyjerbf I couldve sworn there was a version with a cockpit?
This plane/heli/hoverthing looks like it comes straight out of the future, it looks great and the weapons on it are super strong
@Alpha6 Not necessarily. Any durability was coincidental
Is it designed to be durable?
This build is not an 🅻 and instead was a 🆆
@Handlewithcare Thank you! Detail comes with a lot of practice, and a little bit of design intent. Adding details that make the design look more believable, such as vents, panels, fans, etc definitely help.
As for the quotes, they come from many places. Sometimes conversations in my own life, or from media such as music, movies, etc.
Also where do you get these quotes?
They're great!
Wow, How do you do all this detail? even if I tried my hardest I could never do this much detail this well! all I can do is make cursed planes. Good job!
This is the best aircraft i‘ve ever seen. Wow
@CavyNugget9000 Thank you!
This is probably the best plane I've found. Looks cool, great weapons, and amazing flying ability.
Koenig monster.
@LobsterBisque128 I used engines and funky trees. The technical documentation (LUNA system) should give you a good place to start.
How did you make this weightless, whenever I try to use negative mass blocks it blows up and I have no idea why
This is the new Sadboye12, its simple beautiful
@Simpleplaneplayer To put a long story short, physics. The plane is balanced by a few thrusters.
How do you make your plane not moving in the air like hovering?
@hdhdhdhdhsdnxuwbbxuu They aren't based on anything that works in the real world if that's what you're asking. I tend to take a few shortcuts on landing gears to reduce part counts and to focus on other parts of the build.
Those aren’t real landing gears right? Really good tho!
