The golden age of racing

history

The gen 4 car, often associated with the aero wars era, is the product of loose regulations on body work, and saw race shops with the money, going to window tunnels to get there cars aerodynamically perfect. Often times the sanctioning body of nascar had to add ballast to these cars and the more ballast, the better the car. During 2001 the largest tragedy in NASCAR took place on the opening race of the season, the Daytona 500. Everyone knows the story of the legendary dale Earnhardt Sr. and the crash on the last lap was devastating to the racing community. Michael waltrip got his first win at that track after 450+ losses, and in doing so, lost one of this best friends. After the crash and the loss of dale, the hans device was required in every car moving forward, as nascar didn't want to see another death while racing.

the #4 kodak car

The kodak car is an instantly recognizable car and the original driver, sterling marlin would be the first to try a new inovation in racing development, the x pipe. The 1995 qualifying race would have been an odd site. When the #4 kodak car went out on the race track "it sounded like an indy car" is what everyone was saying. After they won the 95 daytona with it, every super speedway track would feature the x pipes, as at 200mph, every horsepower counts. The #4 kodak car was raced originally by Robby Gordon at the start of the 2001 season but after 5 races was replaced by Kevin Lepage as robby had a " know it all attitude".

builders note: This is honestly, one of the best builds I've done in a while. I absolutely love this car, and like how it turned out. I messed up a few small details, the collector on the exhaust should have been farther back on the firewall and angled differently, but hey, it was my first attempt at custom headers like this so there is definitely room for error. The name i went with, kevin lepage should have been robby gordon as i wanted to do the 2001 daytona car but that's a minor detail. Interior is very barebones, and wish i could have gotten more detail but hey. Love how it turned out regardless.
