Introduction

Well after nearly 5 years of SimplePlanes I have decided that I need a break. This more than likely will be temporary but you never know.
I joined SP because I loved the concept of building my own aircraft shapes with their own unique styles and flight models. The game has since evolved, some bits are good (hollow fueslages) some have, in my view, detracted from the enjoyment of the game significantly, i have zero interest in funky trees, VR or spending hours building cockpits (who flies these from the cockpit view anyway???). Obviously the game is leaning towards the things i dont enjoy which makes the time for my break appropriate really.
During my last 2/3 years I have made a lot of builds which i didnt carry through to completion, some are nearly finished to look at but need work on the flight model, some have a long way to go on looks but fly well =)
I hope that the below list of builds are of interest to someone, hopefully they can finish off some as official successors which would be nice for a change.
At least i wont have to bite my tongue when reading some of the silly comments I have received, seriously people, read the instructions lol.
Thanks to the people i have encountered over the years who have supported my builds and helped improve my styles; Tang0five, Tully, Eternal Darkness, Dimkal, Chichiwerx, jamesplanes, Trainzo etc. even Bogdan =P (only joking bog, thanks for the help)

This build

Yes its not 100% complete, yes ive ran out of motivation for it, yes its still fun to fly around etc.
(Stuff already done from my big list of items)
Extend the fuselage
Camo scheme (inc) 2 tone top, 1 tone bottom, seperator line, moved RAF wording and roundels etc.
Rework tail/fins
Make cargo bay hollow
Make seat and crash webbing for seats
Make real windows for the cargo bay
Extra fuel tanks
Rivetjoint style gubbins
Rework cockpit area
Move main LG backwards to retract forwards
Add visible main LG bays
Re-worked the nose
Made a truck (nearly forgot that one lol)
Refueling probe
Aerials
Move landing Lights

(Things still to do)

Internal lining of bay ceiling and side wall (top part)
Finish camp (mainly RHS rear and 1 panel top)
Fix a couple of odd protrusions into the bay
Make guns to sides work smoothly
Link AG8 with roll, pitch and yaw so when you are driving the plane stays still
Fix collisions so you can drive out the ramp smoothly
Fix jeep indicators LHS
Aircraft codes
Scale window surrounds slightly to remove clash of colours
Make side door for bay with mechanism
Possible paratrooper(s) for the side door (maybe on alt version instead of truck?)
Something with those wing tips
Work a bit more on flight model (I had to increase thrust slightly to help with the transition and roll to help at low speed but I think i may need to limit roll and pitch at higher speeds and add my airbrakes again to help slow it down more during landing transition)
2 tone rotator panels next to engine nacelles
Small missing bits of floor near ramp junction
Main wing junction inside cargo bay
Extra bits from side panelling to smooth into rear fus
Internal door detailing
JATO/RATO for faster horizontal transition???
Rework AG commands, at present : AG1 starts main engines, AG7 enables VTOL, AG5 Releases the truck, AG6 pops the truck parachutes and enables side guns (to fix)

Give aways

Not an A10

The A10 is built around that huge gun in the nose, I though that I could make a slightly smaller British equivalent using some more standard armament and at the cost of 2 weapons pylons (not that this will affect operations much when you see how many the A10 has.)
Now I am struggling with getting a working colour scheme here and I need that finalised before I add stuff like panel lines and other decals.
Everything baring the cockpit, fins and undercarriage legs is freshly made (the aforementioned parts are from stock but altered to suit this build). Functionality wise, the engines thrust vector to add to the ability to manoever.

Supersonic Harrier

The Harrier was subject to numerous studies to look at making it supersonic, I thought I would add my take on this. So I added an extra engine, a vertical thrust fan (with sequenced doors top and bottom), swing wing (doesnt move much but i thought it was a nice addition) and extended the size for both length and wingspan.

4 engine turboprop cargo seaplane

Well the title says it all really, I liked the look of the R3Y Tradewind and thought i would build something similar. I have left a weapons bay underneath to allow for antisub warfare to expand the types flexibility. Still need to sort out the rest of the decals and get the flight model to work a bit better (twitchy on pitch at present)

Not a Martin XB-51

So I always liked the XB51 but though the back end was ugly due to the addition of the extra engine, I built my own derivative but with 2 side mounted engines with a reheat system from the Gloster Javelin. Again still working on colour scheme, decals etc. but it flies and functions.

I'll miss flying your builds. As far as I'm concerned nobody needs to use the new features or ft if they don't want to. I'll be out there giving up votes to stuff that looks cool, is creative, and is fun to fly.

Im really happy and honored being amongst your SP buds. I really hope you will enjoy your time with your loved ones and clear your mind. You are one of the most charismatic builders here and you have been an inspiration for many (even me) to continue and expand their capabilities and their imagination. Fare well my friend and hope to see you here again sometime!

So much work...is this even useful in real life? On a resume? Maybe as a design portfolio or for experience? Good building, Rambo. You and the funky trees master @Lemoose should join forces. His F-35B funky trees hover control system and Su-27 handling system show how good he is.

My advice is to not worry about trends. Magic of SP is being able to create what you want, and put as much work into it as you feel proper, and that's never going away.
I hope we'll see you back, Rambo. Enjoy your break.
