T-132 UGV/MBT
T-132 UGV/MBT
(Fictional) Background:
The T-132 is a main battle tank developed by the Russian Federation as a successor to the T-14 Armata. Instead of using an unmanned turret, the whole tank is unmanned, and is remotely controlled. This revolutionary and unusual move in armored technology progression allowed the tank to fit even more technology in it, greatly increasing combat potential. The tank is put into service in 2048, usually deployed in mechanized infantry and independent tank divisions.
Features:
The absence of crew allowed the installation of a formidable power pack in the hull that enables the usage of electrothermal chemical guns and/or directed energy weapons. The design bureau chose the tank's main armament to be an autoloaded hypervelocity 155mm D-155T-VS electrochemical thermal cannon mounted in the turret. It is capable of firing both conventional and specialized ETC ammunition at a rate of fire of a consistent 10 rounds per minute. The gun is also equipped with excellent optics and a two-plane stabilizer and carries 36 rounds of ammunition.
Secondary armament consists of two coaxial KPDShMT 14.5mm heavy machineguns and a turret-mounted 30mm autocannon with 1000 rounds with a vertical stabilizer.
T-132 is extremely well protected. The front hull is protected by a next-generation composite armor with thickness equal to 1200mm of RHA, further enhanced by Malachit-3 explosive reactive armor blocks. The sides of the tank are protected by modular armor.
The turret is also well protected, with angled welded RHA as the base, further enhanced by applique composite armor. However, the most advanced protection system in the tank is the Afghanit-M active protection system mounted in the turret in a T-14 Armata style and in a dual turret mount, providing excellent all-around protection against lower velocity projectiles such as RPGs and ATGMs, especially their top-attack variants.
At 69 short tons, the tank is on the heavier scale of ground vehicles. Despite that, the tank is powered by a 1800 hp turbine engine, giving it a top speed of 50 miles an hour both forwards and reverse with excellent acceleration, at the cost of relatively high fuel consumption.
