Background

The M7A1 Mammoth is a fourth-generation Federation main battle tank designed by Tadei Heavy Industries (now Tadei Technologies) designed for the modern battlefield. One of the most important requirements for the new tank is the capability of having a C4I (Command, Control, Communication and Computing) system. While initial models of the M7 were armed with a 105mm gun, variants produced soon after were armed with a 125mm gun for more firepower. The vehicle is equipped with NBC protection, a 40mm Coaxial and a 7.62mm Coaxial and weighs just short of 48 short tons.

Mammoth tanks can be equipped with the Saab Barracuda camouflage system, which gives the tank concealment against visual, infrared, thermal infrared, and broad-band radar detection. The turret is fitted with two eight-barreled smoke grenade launchers. The launchers can create a thick smoke that blocks both visual and thermal imaging. The engine is also equipped with a smoke generator that is triggered by the driver.

The use of modular components significantly improved the side armour. The Commander's Panoramic Sight was moved to the right and is located at a higher position than previous versions, giving the commander a wide range of view.

Sections of the armour can be removed or added, providing the ability to mount varying degrees of protection depending on the mission profile and weight requirements. Vehicle weight is 48 tonnes in base configuration, 52 tonnes in standard configuration, and 56 tonnes in full configuration (fully equipped).

The M7A1 tank is equipped with C4I system (Command, Control, Communication, Computer & Intelligence). This can be incorporated into the defense network to enable sharing of information among tanks, as well as connected to the infantry's outdoor computer network "Regiment Command Control System" (ReCS) to facilitate integrated military operations with the infantry troops. Other features are as follows:
-Continuously Variable Transmission that allows the tank to reach 48mph forward as well as reverse.
-Autoloader with crew of three.
-Hydropneumatic active suspension, which allows it to adjust its stance and absorbs recoil when firing.
-Day/night sights mounted around the turret, providing a full 360° coverage as well as providing input to the C4I system.
