PF-21 Flaming Moth

13.6k DeltaLinkAviation  8 months ago

The inspiration for this build came from the British De Havilland Mosquito, a mostly wooden, multirole aircraft that saw service during WW2.

Fictional lore: The Flaming Moth
  • The PF-21 was manufactured by Apex Industries as a twin-engine, multirole heavy fighter, requested by and built for the Tactonian Airforce in 1938, which later saw service throughout the 1940s. After 2 years of design and development, the aircraft was finally ready for service, given the designation PF-21 (Propeller-driven Fighter #21).

  • Per request, the 'A' variant of the aircraft was built with STOL capability in mind, and featured two small weapon bays that house 'cluster munitions'; When launched from the aircraft in flight, they glow a bright red, which led to the aircraft's many nicknames, including, "The Red Dragon", "Red Death", and "Flaming Moth", while later export variants became known as the "Death Song" due to the howl of the engines as the aircraft flew by enemy ground forces and dropped its payload.
