Alt. paintjob version

The ATS-02 is the successor to the ATS-01, with a similar two-pronged design. It discharges bolts of superheated particles over up to a distance of 1.0 miles in normal (Earth) temperatures and air pressure.

The ATS-02 has many improvements on its predecessor. Among these are an improved ionizer, better cooling systems, and integrated mech hardpoint support. However, the upgrades significantly increase the energy consumption, heat production, and weight of the weapon.

The unit does not have standalone capabilities as it does not have an internal power source.

USAGE

The ATS-02 weapon system is usually mounted on heavy mechs. These mechs would be used for long-range battles or supporting fire. They can also be installed on defensive weapon platforms or used as additional armament for spaceships.

These uses can be contrasted to the use of the ATS-01, which was almost specifically used for air-to-ground strikes.

PRODUCTION

ATS-02 units are mainly for military use only. Private corporations are able to purchase ATS-02 units, but must undergo a series of background checks and visits by AstInd. representatives in order to qualify.

Units are built-to-order and available for purchase since the late 21st Century. The number of units produced is classified, as with most other heavy weapons.
