(1-3) drops air-sea rescue pods. The Twin Pummeler HF-2D was the search and rescue variant of the Pummeler F-2C twin-engine fighter-bomber. Due to parts similarity with the F-2, it retained the classification of F-2, although was a very different aircraft.

The F-2C, while a promising aircraft, was simply a victim of bad timing. While an excellent heavy fighter, it was marketed to an air force which saw no need for heavy fighters, regardless of their performance. In addition, it was a propeller-driven fighter at the beginning of the jet age, and jets such as the Hawk had further development potential.

Even though it was a promising ground attack aircraft, and even today, can outrun the most recent Pummeler variants with 8,000hp engines with half the engine power among two engines and able to carry more munitions, it was simply too expensive; the Pummeler A-1B/D was having no issues in this role, and while only 3,218 Twin Pummelers were produced, over 35,000 Pummeler B/D models were produced.

However, the unique attributes of the Twin Pummeler would be used for great effect in the Paternian Coast Guard. Aircraft in the Paternian Coast Guard beforehand were either fast enough to respond to an emergency situation but lacked endurance, or had the endurance to respond to said situation but were not fast enough. The Twin Pummeler had both speed and endurance to respond to emergency situations rapidly.

While it had no means of rescuing anyone, it's heavy payload and high engine power would allow them to carry emergency supplies for survivors in the form of three floating pods which contain an inflatable lifeboat with a water desalinator and enough warm blankets and food for 20 people.

It was most famous for its role in helping survivors during the MV Saturn, a Katipunian container ship, began to sink from bad weather in Alaska. The Nome Station of the Paternian Coast Guard and the Vladiosk Station of the Katipunian Coast Guard responded promptly, the former sending a single Twin Pummeler to the scene. While the crew was safe in their lifeboat and rescued by the Katipunian Coast Guard, unbeknownst to them, they were carrying an illicit human cargo of 40 migrants in two separate containers.

They were still onboard the ship and had managed to break free of the containers. However, they were stranded on the sinking ship. The Twin Pummeler pilots, Maj. Wallace Anderson and Capt. Victoria Price, dropped its emergency containers onto the ship, and were able to inflate the lifeboats and set them into the water. Maj. Wallace and Capt. Price continued to cover the survivors, calling upon the Katipunian Coast Guard, who just left, to rescue the unknown survivors.

All forty of the migrants were rescued, and later received asylum status in Katipunia.
