System 510 is a plasma weapon "module". It is a partially standalone system - not part of the hull of a host vehicle and easily removable, but requires an external power source.

It does not have a built-in power source. Power is fed into the ionization unit, either by generators or batteries in the host vehicle.

Ammunition (noble gases) is stored externally, leaving more space for better electrics and cooling. Some users attach a gas tank to the exterior of the weapon, while others store the gases in/on the host machine.

The weapon mainly saw use on walkers, both manned and unmanned. They were also used on some ground attack hovercraft. Similar ionizers were built for heavy space fighter guns but these guns were not classified as variants of System 510.
