Commonwealth Warships Challenge

What is the Commonwealth of Nations?

The commonwealth of nations, which we will simply refer to as the commonwealth, is the political association of many former British imperial subjects. It consists of 56 member states, from the UK herself to Canada, Australia, and India. The prime directive of the Commonwealth is the promotion of peace, understanding, and cooperation amongst the member states

What are we defining as a Commonwealth ship

In truth, any ship that was designed by a member of the a commonwealth qualifies as a commonwealth ship, and those will be fully allowed. But for more individuality and enjoyment, we will be focusing on the ships that were designed by a member of the Commonwealth (almost always British) and then operated by other members of the Commonwealth (again almost always either Canada, Australia, South Africa, India)

So What To Do?

Your first step should be to find a ship that qualifies for the challenge. Wikipedia is always good for this though there are plenty of other resources. If you want to be quick just go look at the majority of British WW2 warships and better chance then not it will qualify as a commonwealth warship.

Next, download the cockpit to this build (it must be from this post or it will be extremely difficult to judge builds) and start building!

Fiction

Now, since we all enjoy letting creativity run wild SOME fictional builds will be allowed. The criteria is strict here. A fictional build must having design cues from existing commonwealth ships. Or rather design cues from nations who are part of the commonwealth. A fictional build cannot just be a random battleships. IT MUST be related to or inspired by a commonwealth ship in some way

Rules:

• Must be a successor to this build. Failure to be so will result in your entry being disqualified. Contact a mod to make it a successor or myself to alert me
• A new build is preferred, IE not something that you have not already uploaded
• Must be a commonwealth warship as defined above (any time period is allowed so long as it follows the guideline)
• Must be posted before the deadline
• Part count has no restriction, but I will say this, be sensible. Failure to be sensible and it will be taken into account during judging

Prizes

• 1st place: 3 spotlights and 25 upvotes
• 2nd place: 1 spotlights and 15 upvotes

• 3rd place: 1 spotlight and 10 upvotes

• Every other entry: 1 upvote guaranteed

  Note: if the winners don't have enough posts for the prizes to be properly handed out (e.g. if the 1st place winner only has 13 posts in total) then as many will be given as possible

Judging Criteria

• Authenticity: The build will be judged on its accuracy to the criteria for commonwealth ships and fictional category
• Detail: having a good amount of detail will get you far. Having a bland hull and superstructure is boring and won’t get you much. Add doors! Life rafts! Hatches! Cleats!
• Function: the build does not need to be completely operable. But of course as with all things, if it is, more points for you. Catapults, recoil, launches, that stuff is nice
• (FICTION BUIlLD) Background: if your ship is in the fiction category it MUST have a background. Who made it? why was it made? For what purpose? When? Etc
